Big Red Heavy Diesel is a locally owned and operated business in Port Hedland, Western Australia. Established in 2023 to service the Pilbara and Kimberley region’s ever growing mining, civil, farming and haulage sectors. The Director, Rowan Jardine has 23 years experience in the industry. Rowan gained a broad range of knowledge and experience having worked under two major OEM’s for 17years, with CAT Hastings Deering and Komatsu.

We provide bulk haulage and mobile heavy-duty diesel mechanical services throughout the Pilbara and Kimberley regions. We currently own and operate a triple set of side tipper road trains, based out of Port Hedland, servicing not only the local area but also the wider region including Newman, Onslow, Tom Price, Exmouth, and Geraldton.

Rowan’s mechanical experience includes field service, diagnostics, break downs, hydraulic PM’s & tune ups, shut downs, rebuilds & management. For Rowan every day is different and no two machines are the same, there is nothing more satisfying in fixing a client’s mechanical or electrical problems and seeing the relief in their faces.

Rowan has a lot of experience working on heavy mining equipment, some notable job’s being: 

• Leading Hand of the East Pilbara Shut Team working on WA1200-6’s & WA1200-3’s and large Komatsu PC Excavators

• Mount Gibson Iron, Koolan Island working with HD1500’s

• ConsMins, Woodie Woodie running full excavator rebuilds on PC2000 & PC1250

• Carrying out full machinery rebuilds of WA900-3EO for Qube

Another highlight in his career would be in 2014 where he was sent to the Komatsu factory in Düsseldorf, Germany for training. ​

​When Rowan is not working you can normally find him tinkering or operating a chainsaw but nothing makes him happier than spending time with his wife and two children, Kira & Austin.
